As their lead sponsors we take more than an active interest in their progress, and this year they’re ending their current season with an additional challenge - making their way across the city in a fundraising event in aid of The Sheffield Children’s Hospital inspired by TV’s ‘Race Across The World’.
Based on a theme of ‘steel and football’ their ‘Race Across Sheffield’ fundraiser takes place on Friday 11 April when two teams, made up of 5-6 members of the football club, will compete against each other to navigate their way across the city.
Their task is to photograph their arrival at a series of designated places, including Sheffield Arena, Meadowhall and Sheffield Wednesday’s home ground - Hillsborough Stadium.
Nikki Jones, Hillfoot’s Business Development Manager and charity champion says:
“This is a brilliant fundraising event from a group of really competitive young people, who we’re proud to sponsor as a football team, and equally proud to support in this fundraising venture - for a cause whose importance to children speaks for itself. We hope that as many people as possible can get behind this fun event, and great team.”
The challenge starts at the Sheffield United (Blades) ground at Bramall Lane before the team embark on their race. Parents will be posted at each of the key stops to check each team member in, before they move on to the next. Everyone taking part will be given £3 plus a Zoom card, or £5.70 without a Zoom card, with which to finance their travel.
The event finishes at the Hillfoot offices and plant on Herries Road.
Each team member will be wearing their official Sheffield Steelers Junior FC kit with our Hillfoot sponsor’s logo.
“This is a fantastic fundraising and team playing event for The Sheffield Steelers Junior FC, who chose the Sheffield Children’s Hospital as the cause to benefit from their fundraising challenge. They’re a really competitive group of kids so this should make for a very interesting competition. We’re really hoping the people of Sheffield will get behind this great event and great cause, instigated by a great group of kids.”
