Stocked Grades

Nitriding Steel

Hillfoot has a long track record of supplying nitriding steel for applications in which resistance to fatigue and shock is crucial.

All the grades listed below are available to meet demand from customers in the motorsport and power generation sectors.

For specialist nitriding requirements, the challenges of this grade mean that it has very specific end use applications. However, while nitride grades offer little scope for alternative solutions, our metallurgical expertise means that we can engineer front-end modifications to meet the exacting demands of this niche product.

We are committed to giving our clients as much value as possible so we also offer a comprehensive processing service and distribution network all over the UK and to our export customers, so your nitriding steel can be delivered where and when needed.

To request a quote or for more information about how Hillfoot’s technical, logistical, supply chain management and export services can deliver cost and time savings for your business, contact our friendly sales team today.

Steel Grade Equivalents

The table below details similar steel grades to the most commonly used engineering steels.

The column on the left shows some of the steel grades stocked by Hillfoot, while the middle columns show their steel equivalents, steel grades with similar chemistry, and the two columns on the right display grades for potential substitution.

All grades in blue are stocked by Hillfoot and clicking on the link will take you to a detail page, where you will be able to download a datasheet.

Should you need any technical advice about grade selection or have queries about the price and availability of the steel required for your manufacturing process, our friendly team is easy to reach and will be more than happy to help.

Similar Grades

Grades of similar (not identical) chemistry. Please note the similar grades are based on chemistry only, and may not meet the necessary mechanical properties (in the standard ‘as stocked’ state).

Grades for Potential Substitution

Grades capable of achieving similar mechanical properties (material may need further treatment to achieve the desired properties). The potential substitution grades are based on mechanical properties, not necessarily the chemical analysis.
