Defence

Our client, a major name within the defence sector, required a large quantity of forged wheels and axles supplied in a highly modified hardened alloy material.

For this particular project they also needed us to meet a complex set of requirements by selecting a compatible and capable manufacturing partner with the credentials to meet their exacting performance criteria.

Aside from specifying the materials grades, we also negotiated and advised on the design criteria between the producer, customer and end user to achieve the best technical product at the most competitive price.

We specified 826M40 and 826M31, and undertook boring, 3rd party testing, cutting, stocking and delivering.

This is a great example of our ability to bring metallurgical expertise and manufacturing knowhow to large scale supply contracts where specialist or modified grades are needed to meet key technical specifications.

It was also a project where we coordinated the input of a number of different parties in a multi-stage process that included melting, forging and machining while ensuring the client was kept up to speed with progress.
